Duties and responsibilities:

They help people with crooked teeth. They help the patients by putting braces on  them. Many people that i know have them. Most adults are using them because they didn’t have money as children so they get them now that they do have the money to buy them. What they do is align your jaw and your teeth.

Salary:

Education:

~4 year college

~Bachelor’s degree

~4 years of dental school

~2 to 3 years of orthodontic residency

In total it can take up to 10 years

Demand:

Expected to grow 21% by 2020

Reflection:

Once i started doing this assignment i was already thinking in my head i don’t want to be this. But now that i’m done i see the many things an orthodontist does. And i feel like i would want to become this. They get paid pretty good. And it helps people. It may take a lot of years to become this but someone that truly wants it can and will achieve it.

Dentist

Duties and responsibilities:

What dentist do is remove decay from teeth and fill cavities.Repair cracked or fractured teeth and remove teeth.Dentist can use braces to straighten patients teeth to correct bite issues.Place whitening agents on teeth.Give anesthetics to keep patients from feeling pain during procedures.Write prescriptions for antibiotics or other medications.Examine x rays of teeth, gums, the jaw, and nearby areas for problems.Make models and measurements for dental appliances, such as dentures, to fit patients.Teach patients about diet, flossing, use of fluoride, and other aspects of dental care.Dentists use a variety of equipment, including x-ray machines, drills, mouth mirrors, probes, forceps, brushes, and scalpels. They also use lasers, digital scanners, and other computer technologies. In a nutshell all dentist do is fix your teeth.

Yes there is a demand for more dentist. The job can grow up to 18% from 2014-2024.

Reflection:

Being a dentist is a good paying job. Although there is a lot of risks. Many dentist get sued.
