petroleum engineer

Petroleum Engineer
Duties and responsibilities:
Basically what these people do is design new methods to extract oil and gas from below the surface. They are responsible for creating profitable equipment. They also develop plans to force oil and gas out of the surface. They can force out gas and oil by adding water to the hole they drilled. If they don’t use water they can use chemicals, gases, or steam. In my perspective the most important part of their job is not only operating the equipment but having to make sure the equipment is installed properly, and is operating properly.
Salary:
$102,300-$176,300
Education:
Bachelor’s degree
Demand for this profession:
2014-2024 10% faster growth
